Our Role Models are Machines

CYANOTIC 'Mutual Bonding Through Violation'

The recurring theme within the industrial scene is one of recycling - Neubauten re-use abandoned washing machines and disused climbing frames as drum kits as KMFDM regularly plagiarise their own lyrics whilst any number of bands shamelessly rip-off samples from the coolest movies around - it's a cyclical thing! That and the relatively marginalized nature of the genre means it's no surprise when the majority of bands look introspectively for inspiration as those who fail to adhere to commonly associated ideals are publicly ousted and shunned from polite society. Cyanotic do the guitar industrial thang, and do it surprisingly well. There's still a fair way to go before they find their own identity, but for now their spirited attempt at re-energising the digital rage of Bile and 16 Volt and the self-righteousness of Skinny Puppy has served them fairly well for now.

6/10
